To utilize
PRN's Online Utilization Review System the user must have a computer
capable of connecting to the Internet, and the ability to send and receive
email. The following level of computing resource is recommended:
- A 486
or higher PC running Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, or 2000 a Power Macintosh
or any UNIX system.
- PC's
and Mac systems are suggested to have at least 32MB of memory and
sufficient disk space to store incoming reports.
- A video
system at the VGA standard is sufficient, however higher resolution
systems will display the text and photos more clearly.
- A connection
to the Internet. This may be via a direct connection or a dial-up
connection. The only requirements are the ability to access the World
Wide Web and electronic mail services. Any convenient Internet Service
Provider (ISP) can be used. It is highly suggested that if you are
using a dial-up connection with a modem that your modem is at least
56Kb. A DSL, or othere high speed connection will make all network
operations go much more quickly.
- The World
Wide Web browsers that PRN-Online supports are: Netscape Communicator
4.0 or later, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, and AOL software
version 5.0 or later.
- An electronic
mail program. The mail programs that are part of the
above browsers will all work, as will Eudora, Pegasus, Pine and most
other common electronic mail programs.
- A printer.
This can be any type of graphics capable printer. It will be needed
to print instructions, and copies of your returned reports.
